The Aldermaston Players, in their modern guise, are a troupe that gather each winter to brighten the grey days of an English February. They achieve this by bringing several evenings of Dinner/Theatre to Aldermaston in West Berkshire.
There always seems to be a made panic after the Christmas festivities to get rehearsals under way and ticket sold but we have never disappointed our audiences, who keep coming back for more! The night always seems to end with
"... that's the best one you've done" or "... what are you doing next year?"
The challenge is always to find something new ... for next year and this year is no different!.
A troupe of players from Aldermaston has been in existence for many centuries and this tradition continues today. Today, the parish is able to boast 3 theatrical companies within it's boundaries: Aldermaston Players, Aldermaston Nativity Play and the Boundary Players (who perform at AWE) .. not bad for a small population.
Fund-raising:
Aldermaston Players have produced a dinner/theatre evening, since 1996, to raise funds for amenities in the village of Aldermaston, Berkshire, UK. To date the majority of our fund raising has been for our "theatre", Aldermaston's Parish Hall.
In our first year, 1966, we did make a contribution to the organ renovation fund for the beautiful 12th century parish church of St. Mary the Virgin, Aldermaston.
Facilities added:
- renovation of the 6ft apron staging, first built in the 1950's/60's - stage lighting - core elements of scenery: flats, backclothes and steps - a small collection of costumes and props
